Scott Levine, Attorney
So … what do you want to know? As principal of AEGIS Professional Services, Scott lays down the knowledge for entrepreneurs, investors and emerging businesses with the unique and often challenging issues they face throughout the formation and growth process: from the protection of intellectual property, to the development of an effective human resource management program to the financing of growth and securities law compliance. He assists clients as they continue to grow and develop, whether this involves merger and acquisition activities, international licensing and distribution arrangements or counseling of directors and officers.
Scott combines his experience with a practical understanding of clients' business needs. He prides himself on his reputation for being not just a legal advisor but an integral and valuable member of each client's business team. He invests the time needed to learn each client's business and industry and to understand the client's needs and objectives. Working with an extensive network of contacts in the venture capital, investment banking and business communities, he provides guidance to clients regarding potential sources of capital, investment and business opportunities, and management assistance and expertise.
Scott emphasizes regular contact with clients, including attendance at Board meetings, regardless of whether there is an open project. Scott stays informed regarding the business and technological developments affecting firm clients to better anticipate and meet their needs. His goal is to provide practical solutions to client's business and legal problems in a manner that allows them to focus their time and attention on the important task of growing their businesses.
Scott is an accomplished speaker, speaking regularly to businesspersons and public officials on employment law concerns and has presented workshops to management on employment litigation-prevention techniques. Scott also enjoys writing and was recently a co-author of a book, The Positive Power of "No", in which he wrote on the need for organizations to set strong limits regarding ethical decision-making.
Scott received his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa. He is a Senior Faculty member of the Keller Graduate School of Management of Devry University and teaches in the graduate business programs of Webster University and the University of Phoenix. He teaches Business Law, Negotiations, Employment Law and the Legal, Ethical and Social Dimensions of Business.
In addition to the above, Scott is the past Board President for Redevelopment Opportunities for Women (ROW), a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing positive change on behalf of homeless, abused, and/or indigent women and families, through a continuum of educational, counseling and support services. ROW accomplishes this by focusing on strengths, building on those strengths and developing skills needed to live healthy and productive lives. Specifically, ROW carries out its mission through its Family Strengths Program, Family Literacy Program, Early Childhood Activity Program, Domestic Violence Response Program, its Economic Action Program, and Community Building.
